A press release from the Cayman Islands Government this morning, July 3, 2024, urged members of the public to “stay in place beginning at 6 pm tonight.”

The stay-in-place measure is intended to be effective until an official All Clear is given.

The Government clarified that, notwithstanding the stay-in-place advisory, “There are currently no plans to officially restrict movement as the public is expected to comply with guidance given in the interest of their own safety.”

The Government added:

Unnecessary travel could cause added emergencies during this period of heightened response.

With this in mind, persons who are choosing to take shelter away from home should do so before nightfall to ensure that they are within a secure location before weather conditions begin to deteriorate.
