At a meeting of the Cabinet convened on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, the Cabinet approved the preferred route for the East-West Arterial Environmental Impact Assessment. A source confirmed today, July 24, 2024, that this is route B3 (white line in the map below).

The source added:

This road comes out by Clifton Hunter and would require the Frank Sound Fire Station to be relocated.

B3 is more central (further from the coastline); less disruptive to areas like Midland Acres.

B3 provides better siting for future development and potential connectors into the Northside interior.

The source indicated that other parties may have preferred route B2, which would have restricted development to the north.

The source highlighted, however, that any residents’ desire for any development restrictions ought to be addressed in a long-term development plan.

The Government will likely issue further details of the preferred route B3 in due course.
