The Ministry of Tourism and Ports is pleased to announce that the contract for Phase 1 of the highly anticipated Central Scranton Park development has been signed with McAlpine Limited, one of Cayman’s leading construction companies.
The official signing took place on Friday, October 11th, 2024, with Chief Officer Stran Bodden representing the Ministry and Mr. Russell Day representing McAlpine Ltd. This marks a significant milestone in the realisation of a project that is set to transform the Central Scranton area into a vibrant green space.
The signing of this contract, worth CI $2.3 million, represents the construction of Phase 1 which covers
the development of key infrastructure for the park. Works to be completed in Phase 1 include, but are
not limited to:
- site grading and earthworks;
- drainage and stormwater management measures;
- pond enhancement works, including safety handrails;
- supply and installation of lighting;
- the construction of pedestrian pathways, park entrances, gazebos and perimeter fencing;
- the supply and installation of the calisthenics exercise area;
- park landscaping and irrigation system.
Hon. Kenneth Bryan, Minister of Tourism and Ports, commented, “The development of Central Scranton
Park has been a vision we have worked toward for some time, and this contract signing is a proud
moment for the Ministry. We are excited to partner with McAlpine Ltd., a contractor that brings a
wealth of experience and a proven track record delivering high-quality projects.”
Phase 1 is schedule to be completed in the summer of 2025.
