Yesterday, January 25, 2025, Jillian Crooks and Jordan Crooks performed well in their respective team races in a rival swim meet between the University of Tennessee Volunteers and the University of Georgia Bulldogs held at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.  Jillian swam the Women’s 200 Yard Medley Relay, Women’s 50 Yard Freestyle, the Women’s 100 Yard Freestyle and the Women’s 400 Yard Freestyle Relay.  Jordan completed the Men’s 200 Yard Medley Relay, Men’s 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, Men’s 50 Yard Freestyle, and Men’s 100 Yard Butterfly.

Women’s 200 Yard Medley Relay

In the Women’s 200 Yard Medley Relay, Jillian helped her team take the top two spots ahead of the University of Georgia. The first Tennessee team finished in 1:35.69, while the second Tennessee team, comprising Jillian and her teammates Lexi Stephens, Mona McSharry, and Emily Brown, finished in 1:37.76.

Women’s 50 Yard Freestyle

In the Women’s 50 Yard Freestyle, Jillian’s teammate Camille Spink finished in 21.46, and Jillian did 22.41.  According to Swim Cloud, Jillian has consistently done well in this event, even doing a faster time of 21.91 at the Tennessee Invitational on November 20, 2024.

Women’s 100 Yard Freestyle

In the Women’s 100 Yard Freestyle, Jillian had a top-three finish in 48.87. This was ahead of five other swimmers from Tennessee and Georgia.

Women’s 400 Yard Freestyle Relay

In the Women’s 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, Jillian helped her team of Camille Spink, Julia Mrozinski, and Brooklyn Douthwright clinch first place over Georgia with a time of 3:13.46.  Georgia finished in 3:15.85.

Men’s 200 Yard Medley Relay

In the Men’s 200 Yard Medley Relay, Jordan helped his teammates Lamar Taylor, Kevin Houseman, and Gui Caribe take a win over the University of Georgia with a time of 1:21.90. 

Regarding Jordan’s specific contribution to this race, Swim Swam said he “anchored Tennessee’s winning 200 medley relay in 17.66,” which is “the 4th-fastest 50 free relay split in history, and the fastest ever in a regular season meet.”

Men’s 400 Yard Freestyle Relay

Regarding the Men’s 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, Jordan helped his teammates Lamar Taylor, Gui Caribe, and Nikoli Blackman win first place with a time of 2:46.77. The University of Tennessee said this was “the fourth-best time in program history in the 400 free relay.”

Men’s 50 Yard Freestyle

In the Men’s 50 Yard Freestyle, Jordan finished first in 18.44.  The next closest time appeared to be 19.16 from Gui Caribe.

Men’s 100 Yard Butterfly

Jordan took second place in the Men’s 100 Yard Butterfly in 45.21.  However, based on Swim Cloud data, Jordan is a much faster swimmer, achieving 43.77 at the Tennessee Invitational on November 21, 2024.

Summary

Based on Saturday’s performances, Jillian and Jordan continue to do well for their University teams and the Cayman Islands. It is hoped that they will continue to excel and either meet or surpass their personal bests in 2025 and beyond.
