In a matter involving a property owner in the Summary Court today, July 2, 2026, defence counsel Amelia Fosuhene raised serious concerns about the alleged motives behind a planning enforcement notice. The matter was adjourned to September 3.
Regarding the background, defence counsel alleged that the government and planning authorities had been attempting to purchase the land for six years and only issued the enforcement notice after the owners refused to sell. Defence counsel highlighted that emails suggesting this history were sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, but the full context had not been disclosed to the court.
Defence counsel added that she was not blaming the DPP office for non-disclosure since the DPP may have only been given partial information.
In the circumstances, the Chief Magistrate adjourned the matter to September 3, 2026, to give the parties enough time to review all paperwork.
