According to a recent publication in the Extraordinary Gazette of the Cayman Islands, the public was notified that Butterfield Bank (Cayman) Limited holds various dormant accounts.
To prevent balances on these accounts from being transferred to the Government, customers are expected to effect one or more transactions listed in the notice.
Once the balances are transferred to the Government, the dormant account holder will no longer have any right against the account provider to repay the monies transferred.
