Following discussions with Her Excellency the Governor, the Cabinet Secretary’s appointing officer, the Cabinet Office wishes to confirm that statements made during a local talk show on 7 January 2025 speculating on the relocation and responsibilities of the Cabinet Secretary are untrue. The Cabinet Office can further confirm that the Cabinet Secretary has no intention of demitting his constitutional role.
The role of Cabinet Secretary is one enshrined in the Cayman Islands Constitution. Upholding the integrity and political neutrality of the position of Cabinet Secretary is of critical importance to the current, or any future administration.
Whilst assertions and rumours may arise during the period leading up to a general election, Government channels will continue to provide accurate information.
