In the first three races of the Women’s Dinghy event at the 2024 Olympics in France, Charlotte Webster made good progress despite facing strong competition from athletes representing Germany, France, the United States, Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Spain, and other large jurisdictions. Her results for races 1, 2, and 3, which took place in Marseille, are set out below.
Race 1
The first race took place on Thursday, August 1, 2024, where Louise Cervera of France emerged as the winner. Cervera was followed by Min Gu of China, who holds the 97th rank in the ILCA 6 class.
Charlotte finished with 41 points, ahead of Vaimooia Ripley of Samoa (ranked number 140 in the ILCA class 6) and Ameena Shah of Kuwait (ranked number 293 in the ILCA class 6).
Race 2
Race 2 on Friday, August 2, 2024, was clinched by Marit Bouwmeester of the Netherlands, who holds the third rank in the ILCA class 6.
Charlotte accumulated 40 points, followed by athletes from Samoa, Chile, and Kuwait.
Race 3
The third race took place on Friday, August 2, 2024. Ana Moncada Sanchez of Spain won it, with Marit Bouwmeester of the Netherlands coming in second.
Charlotte earned 39 points, placing her ahead of Elena Vorobeva of Croatia, who is ranked 25th in the ILCA class, and Greta Pilkington of New Zealand, who is ranked 54th.
Remaining races
Charlotte now has seven remaining races to complete, after which she is expected to finish above several countries.

According to World Sailing, the medals for the Women’s Dinghy event will be decided by the boat with the lowest total points. In addition, “Athletes will be able to discard their worst finishing position after they’ve completed three races.”
