Recently, the Cabinet terminated several appointments to the National Conservation Council. This caused controversy because there were concerns about whether proper grounds for termination existed and whether their replacements were politically neutral. As a result, various persons applied for leave to apply for judicial review and an interim stay. On April 1, 2025, the court considered the submissions and made the following order:

1. The application for leave to apply for judicial review and, if granted, the application for judicial review shall be listed on a “rolled up” basis and shall be listed to be heard on 15 – 16 May 2025, before Carter J.

2. The National Conservation Council shall not make any decision pending the final determination of the claim for judicial review or further order.

 3. The National Conservation Council may apply to vary or discharge the Order at paragraph 2 of this order on 72 hours’ notice to the Applicants and the Respondent.

4. Costs reserved.
