Marco McAlister Myles, who is charged with possession of 70 pounds of Ganja with the intent to supply, appeared in the Summary Court yesterday, June 17, 2025, to discuss bail conditions that would allow him to travel. Ultimately, the Chief Magistrate granted the requested bail conditions, provided he put in place a cash security of $10,000.

Arguing on behalf of Myles, his attorney Lene Doherty explained that he has an annual family vacation booked from August 2 to 17, 2025. Reportedly, this was booked in January 2025.

The Chief Magistrate noted that since a substantial amount of Ganja was involved, a cash security of $10,000 would be required before his passport could be released. The cash will be returned to him on August 18, 2025, upon his return to Cayman and the surrender of his passport.

His attorney also inquired whether the Chief Magistrate would consider varying an existing condition that prevented Myles from being within 100 yards of a seaport.  The reason for this request was that, reportedly, it is a Sunday tradition for Myles to visit the beach with his family. In the circumstances, his attorney queried whether a beach would be considered a seaport.

Responding to this, the Chief Magistrate noted that persons on bail have disappeared off Seven Mile Beach in the past. Based on such incidents, the beach can be used as a seaport to escape Cayman.  The Chief Magistrate, therefore, denied the request to allow Myles to visit the beach.

Myles is expected to return to court on July 1, 2025, before his scheduled vacation.
