Man Pleads Not Guilty To Setting Vehicle On Fire, Imitation Firearm Possession & Common Assault

By Alric Lindsay

In the Grand Court today, March 6, 2026, Giovannie Ramone Edwards entered not guilty pleas to a four-count indictment involving arson, reckless driving, possession of an imitation firearm, and common assault. The charges stem from a series of incidents in December 2025, all allegedly directed at the same complainant.

The most serious charge, count one, is arson contrary to Section 267(3) of the Penal Code (2024 Revision). It is alleged that between December 19 and 20, 2025 Edwards destroyed a Toyota 4Runner motor vehicle by fire, without lawful excuse. Edwards pleaded not guilty to this count.

Count two accuses Edwards of a reckless and negligent act, alleging that on December 23, 2025, at the Linford-Pearson Highway in George Town, he drove a car toward a man in a manner that endangered his life or safety. Edwards again pleaded not guilty.

The third count involves possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit an offense, contrary to the Firearms Act. Details state that on the same date and location as count two, Edwards allegedly had an imitation firearm in his possession with the intent to cause fear or provoke violence toward another man. He pleaded not guilty.

Finally, count four is common assault whereby it is alleged that Edwards unlawfully assaulted a man. He pleaded not guilty.

Justice Richards scheduled the trial for May 19, 2026.

Edwards remains free on bail pending trial, with a mention date possibly set for further updates.

Edwards is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
