The National Hurricane Center said today, August 30, 2024, that it is monitoring two systems heading in the general direction of the Lesser Antilles. One is expected to develop into a tropical depression by next week.
One weather disturbance is a disorganized tropical wave over the central tropical Atlantic. Next week, it may develop into a tropical depression as it moves westward towards the Lesser Antilles and Caribbean Sea.
The chance of formation through seven days is medium at 40 per cent.
The second weather disturbance is also a tropical wave between Africa’s west coast and the Cabo Verde Islands.
Further development is expected as it moves west-northwest over the eastern and central tropical Atlantic.
The chance of formation through seven days is low at 20 per cent.
Stakeholders in the Lesser Antilles and the Caribbean should continue to monitor these systems as forecasts may change at any time.
