Press Release from Cayman Islands Airports Authority

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands (2 September 2024) The Cayman Islands Airports Authority (CIAA), which operates the Owen Roberts International Airport (ORIA) on Grand Cayman and the Charles Kirkconnell International Airport (CKIA) on Cayman Brac, is excited to announce the development of a new long-term parking facility at ORIA.

Preliminary work has already begun on the development of this new parking facility, which will be located to the east of the airport terminal. It will boast 300 additional parking spaces, a brand-new modern parking management system, and enhanced lighting to ensure safety and convenience for all customers.

The current airport parking facilities have reached full capacity, especially on weekends, making it challenging to accommodate the growing number of passengers efficiently. The new parking facility will alleviate congestion and provide convenient, accessible parking to better serve the traveling public. Additionally, the new parking lot will significantly improve the overall efficiency of airport parking operations, ensuring a seamless and world-class experience.

Commenting on the new facility, Minister for Tourism and Ports Kenneth Bryan said:

We are thrilled to announce the construction of this new long-term parking facility at Owen Roberts International Airport.

This project is a significant step forward in our commitment to enhancing the travel experience for our passengers.

He added:

We are also delighted that our local Caymanian customers will no longer have to worry about parking availability during our peak periods.

The additional parking facility will greatly improve convenience and accessibility, ensuring that our airport continues to provide the highest standard of service.

We look forward to welcoming our customers to this state-of-the-art facility in the near future.

This new parking facility will also accommodate airport stakeholders, including employees from airlines, ground handling service providers and other airport partners.

“Developing a new long-term parking facility at Owen Roberts International Airport is a vital enhancement to our nation’s primary gateway. As travel to and from the Cayman Islands continues to grow, ensuring that our infrastructure can accommodate that growth is crucial,” said CIAA Board Chairman Johann Moxam. “This project not only reflects our commitment to improving the travel experience for residents but also demonstrates our dedication to continuously improving our airports.”
