The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) said that two people unfortunately passed away this morning, Monday, July 1, after an accident near Spotts Newlands Road.
The RCIPS explained that shortly after 2:15 am, police and other emergency services responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Shamrock Road, in the vicinity of Spotts Newlands Road, where a white BMW collided with a wall.
Two occupants of the vehicle, one male and one female, were extricated from the vehicle and transported to the hospital, where they were pronounced deceased by the attending doctor.
Westbound traffic heading towards George Town was diverted through Hirst Road while police carried out their investigations. Eastbound traffic was diverted through Spotts Newlands Road.
Eastbound traffic is recommended to avoid the area and instead take the East-West Arterial.
