According to various sources, the Jamaican Court of Appeal determined that Vybz Kartel (whose real name is Adidja Palmer) will not have to be retried and will be released from prison.
The development follows a judgment from the UK Privy Council that his matter be resent to the Jamaican Court of Appeal to decide whether to rehash his trial for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, whose body was never found.
Reportedly, the Court of Appeal considered the interests of justice and Kartel’s declining health, including Graves Disease and heart condition, in making their decision.
