Water Authority Press Release
In anticipation of Tropical Cyclone 18, Water Authority Cayman will reconnect service to all customers who were disconnected in the last month for non-payment. Reconnection will take place today, Monday, 4 November. This is to ensure that all customers can make the necessary preparations and store sufficient water for drinking and non-drinking purposes. Following the passing of the storm, any accounts not brought to good standing will be disconnected again.
The Authority encourages all customers to take note of the various storm preparedness recommendations found at www.caymanprepared.gov.ky and the water—and sewage-specific tips on the Water Authority’s website at www.waterauthority.ky
As Tropical Cyclone 18 approaches, depending on the forecasted path and predicted severity of the storm, the Water Authority may need to temporarily interrupt water service to protect the distribution system. Should this action be necessary, the Water Authority will give as much notice as possible once such a decision has been made. Customers should ensure they have sufficient water stored for drinking and non-drinking purposes.
If you plan to shelter somewhere other than your property, the Water Authority advises you to turn off the customer shut-off valve to prevent unexpectedly high water bills and property damage should a leak occur in your property’s plumbing during the storm.
Please continue to listen to your radio or visit the Water Authority’s website and/or social media accounts for further updates.
