Following his world record-setting 50M freestyle heat performance earlier today, December 14, 2024, at the World Aquatics Swimming Championships in Budapest, Cayman’s Jordan Crooks made history again in the semi-finals as the first man to ever go sub-20 in the event.  Breaking his world record from earlier in the day, he finished the semi-finals with a time of 19.90, according to World Aquatics.

After this second record-breaking swim, Crooks is among the top 5 performers. Including Crooks, these top performers are as follows (source: Swim Swam):

  • Caeleb Dressel, 20.16
  • Ben Proud, 20.18
  • Roland Schoeman, 20.30
  • Vladimir Morozov, 20.31

Crooks is now scheduled to swim in the 50M Freestyle event finals on Sunday, December 15, 2024. That lineup will include Crooks, Chris Guiliano (United States), Egor Kornev (Russia), Guilherme Santos (Brazil), Jack Alexy (United States), Nyls Korstanje (Netherlands), Maxime Grousset (France) and Yuchan Ji (South Korea).
