In a Summary Court hearing today, January 16, 2026, a man facing charges of inviting a child to participate in a sexual activity, abuse of a position of trust and indecent assault was granted bail. He is scheduled to return to court on January 27, 2026.

Regarding the bail conditions, the Chief Magistrate ordered as follows:

** No unsupervised contact with children under the age of 17, with an exception made only for his own three children—all under six years old, including a girl and boy-girl twins—for whom he serves as the primary caregiver in the absence of their mother

** Not to enter or come within 100 yards of properties of the Children and Youth Services (CAYS) Foundation, which operates the Bonaventure Boys’ Home and the Frances Bodden Children’s Home, except when incidentally passing by

** No direct or indirect contact with the victim as well as staff or residents of the CAYS Foundation

** Live and sleep exclusively at his specified address noted to the court

** Observe a curfew from 8 pm to 6 am, during which he must remain at home

** Report to the Bodden Town police station

** Not to leave the jurisdiction without the permission of the court

Upon setting out of the bail conditions, it was noted that the man requested a variation of the terms to travel overseas to do a course organised by his employer.  Regarding this, the Chief Magistrate noted that a variation may be considered administratively upon the receipt of a local surety for the amount of $3,000 and evidence of the work course.

The Chief Magistrate imposed media reporting restrictions, including a ban on publishing any names or identifying details to safeguard privacy.
