By Alric Lindsay

Today, November 12, 2024, Ariella Downs White pleaded guilty to possession and consumption of ganja.  In a subsequent matter, George Ingle Ebanks pleaded guilty to the importation of a cannabinoid derivative.

Downs White

In the case of Downs White, the Court heard she was in a car with others along Sound Way in George Town on February 4, 2024.  She admitted that 2.65 grams of ganja in a green plastic bag was hers.

The Court noted possession is an offence under section 3(1)(K) of the Misuse of Drugs Act.  This states:

3. (1) A person who, without lawful excuse or without being authorised in that behalf…  (k) possesses, constructively or otherwise… any controlled drug, pipe, utensil or thing used in the preparation or consumption of any controlled drug, or who attempts, assists or is concerned in any of such matters commits an offence.

For the second offence of consumption, she was charged under section 3(1)(L) of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

She was bailed to return to Court for sentencing on November 14.

Ebanks

Concerning Mr Ebanks, the Court heard how he imported a controlled drug into the Owen Roberts Airport on September 27, 2024.  The drug in question was a cannabinoid derivative weighing less than two ounces.

He was bailed to return to Court for sentencing on November 18.
