Man Pleads Guilty To Ganja Importation & Possession. Questions Raised About Sufficiency Of Evidence For MDMA Conspiracy.

Malik Darel Williams and Christy Amanda Brown appeared in the Summary Court today, July 7, 2026, to face charges of conspiracy to import methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) and Ganja, being concerned in the Importation of methylenedioxymethamphetamine and Ganja and possession of Ganja and a drug utensil. Williams pled guilty to the Ganja and utensil charges, while questions were raised whether there was any case against Brown.
Regarding the charges actually put to Williams in court, it was alleged that between June 24, 2025, and October 24, 2025, Williams was concerned, along with other persons, with the importation of 14 pounds, 12.3 ounces of Ganja into the Cayman Islands.
Williams also was charged with possession of 4.07 ounces of Ganja on October 24, 2024.
Further, Williams was charged with possession of a utensil, being a scale, for the preparation or consumption of a controlled drug.
Concerning the other charges, defence attorney Greg Walcolm said that “the evidence of the Crown makes clear that he has no knowledge whatsoever in relation to the MDMA.”
The Defence attorney added:
Because the packages are not commingled… it is our view that the evidence in relation to the conspiracy to import MDMA… cuts against the Crown’s ability to prove the requisite knowledge.
Based on the defence attorney’s comments, it appears that there is a question whether there is any evidence to support the allegation of conspiracy to import MDMA or any links between Williams and the MDMA or his knowledge of the same.
Turning to Ms Brown, defence attorney Amelia questioned what was the case against her client because her “name isn’t mentioned in the papers at all… there is no mention of my client other than her arrest.”
Disclosure and Next Steps
After hearing the above exchange, the Chief Magistrate ordered that outstanding disclosure for Williams be provided by DPP Crown Counsel within seven days (by July 14).
The next court appearance is scheduled for July 21.
