On June 13, 2025, Carla Scott appeared in the Grand Court to face allegations of handling stolen goods, namely a gold necklace with emeralds and diamonds. Scott pleaded not guilty, and her bail was extended to a proposed trial date of June 30, 2025.
Background
Regarding the first allegation, it was stated in court that, between December 18, 2022, and January 6, 2023, Scott dishonestly received stolen goods belonging to Mary Yvonne Broderick, knowing or believing them to be stolen.
Concerning the second allegation, it was said that between the same dates, Scott assisted in the retention, removal, disposal or realisation of the stolen gold necklace with emeralds and diamonds.

The version of the Penal Code in force at the time of the alleged incident was the Penal Code (2022 Revision). The Penal Code (2022 Revision) states as follows:
260. (1) A person handles stolen goods if (otherwise than in the course of stealing) knowing or believing them to be stolen goods that person dishonestly receives the goods, or dishonestly undertakes or assists in their retention, removal, disposal or realisation by or for the benefit of another person, or if that person arranges to do so.
(2) A person who handles stolen goods commits an offence and is liable to imprisonment for fourteen years.
