Today, July 1, 2025, a Jamaican man, who reportedly has permanent residence in the Cayman Islands, appeared in the Summary Court to face allegations of abuse of a position of trust, gross indecency with a child and attempted rape. After granting him bail with conditions, the Chief Magistrate committed the matters to the Grand Court for July 11, 2025.
Regarding the bail conditions, the Chief Magistrate ordered as follows:
**He must not go within 100 yards of the complainant
**He must surrender his Jamaican passport and any other travel document
**Provide a Caymanian surety for $2,000
**Not to have any contact directly or indirectly with the child or the mother of the child or any family members of the child
**Not to come within 100 yards of the airport
**Live and sleep at the address given to the court
**Report to the George Town police station on Fridays between 9am and 5pm.
The man is expected to appear in the Grand Court on July 11, 2025.
Reporting Restrictions
The Chief Magistrate ordered that no publication shall be made that may directly or indirectly identify the child in this case.
