Devin Santee Cooke appeared in the Summary Court today, August 18, 2026, to face allegations of possession and consumption of Ganja, disorderly conduct at the police station, driving a vehicle whilst under the influence of alcohol and using a vehicle with expired registration. He pled guilty to all charges and received an immediate interim driving disqualification.

Regarding the Ganja offences, the Chief Magistrate said it was alleged that, on January 28, 2026, on Seafarers Way in George Town, Cooke had in his possession 2.72 grams. He also admitted to Ganja consumption.

Concerning the disorderly conduct, it was alleged that, on the same date, Cooke used indecent, disorderly or insulting behaviour while at the Cayman Islands Detention Centre.

Next, it was alleged on the same date, Cooke unlawfully drove a Honda Fit along Seafarer’s Way, while under the influence of alcohol.  Reportedly, the breath reading given as 0.206%.

Lastly, it was alleged that the vehicle Cooke was driving had an expired registration and the renewal has not paid since December 2024.

Before mentioning the sentencing date, the Chief Magistrate reminded Cooke that she previously warned him at a hearing on August 4 that she would impose an interim disqualification for his traffic offences.  Accordingly, the Chief Magistrate asked Cooke to surrender his licence and made the interim disqualification order effective immediately. The Chief Magistrate added that driving while disqualified carries the risk of imprisonment.

Sentencing was fixed for October 14 and a pre-sentence report was ordered.
