Ismael Isaac Perez Maceo admitted two charges of buying or dealing in controlled drugs in the Summary Court today, August 20, 2026, after Crown Counsel from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions withdrew a charge alleging that he had impersonated a doctor.
Regarding the first buying charge, it was alleged that on December 5, 2025, at Progressive Distributors in the Airport Industrial Park, Perez Maceo attempted without lawful excuse to buy controlled drugs. The drugs named were alprazolam, clonazepam, and lorazepam.
For the second dealing charge, it was alleged that between January 13, 2025, and September 16, 2025, at the same premises and again without lawful excuse, he bought or otherwise dealt with the same drugs.
Defence counsel indicated that a pre-sentence report might be of limited value since Perez Maceo is an elderly gentleman and there are concerns about memory loss. As such, Perez Maceo may have issues reflecting back on things. Notwithstanding this, the Chief Magistrate said she wanted a pre-sentence report attempted to assist the court with its approach to sentencing.
Perez Maceo was directed to meet the probation officer immediately after the hearing, with the interpreter assisting, and was reminded to keep all his appointments so that the report would be ready. He was bailed to return on November 11, 2026.
