A man has admitted two separate assaults on the same woman, and the Chief Magistrate has referred the matters to a specialist court.
Appearing in the Summary Court today, July 30, 2026, Rodney Rollin Ramoon pled guilty to common assault, contrary to section 215 of the Penal Code, for an incident on May 24, 2025 in which he assaulted the complainant by hitting her to the head with a bag. He also faced a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm, contrary to section 216, said to have occurred against the same complainant on June 5, 2026.
The Chief Magistrate referred both assaults to a specialist court, where the case is to be mentioned on 12 August 12. His bail was extended until then.
Ramoon also faced a set of traffic charges — including using a vehicle with expired registration, having no valid driver’s licence, having no third‑party insurance, and driving while disqualified. He was placed under an interim disqualification from driving with immediate effect, and the Chief Magistrate warned him plainly: “I warn you not to drive at all, because you’ll surely go to prison if you get arrested again.”
