Man Pleads Guilty To Importation Of 546 Pounds Of Ganja & 0.28 Kilos Of Cocaine To Cayman Brac. Co-Defendant To Plead Not Guilty

By Alric Lindsay

Two men, Kevin Haughton and Henry Heron, who previously pled guilty to illegal landing, appeared in Summary Court yesterday, November 13, 2024, to face charges of importation of Ganja and cocaine. Heron pleaded guilty to the drugs, while Haughton’s lawyer indicated that he would plead not guilty on the basis that his co-defendant Heron already pleaded guilty.

Regarding Heron, it was explained that on August 22, 2024, he imported 546 pounds and 8 ounces (247.70 kilograms) of Ganja to Cayman Brac.

Additionally, Heron was charged with the importation of 0.28kg (9.88 ounces) of cocaine.

Since Heron pleaded guilty to the foregoing charges, attorney Prathna Bodden noted that she would ask the Crown to review the charges against Haughton.  Haughton intends to plead not guilty.

The matter was then scheduled for mention on November 26.
