Robert Darwin Ebanks appeared in the Summary Court today, July 23, 2026, to face charges of theft, possession of a utensil used for the preparation of a controlled drug, criminal trespass and failing to provide a specimen of urine for a laboratory test. He pled guilty to utensil allegation and failing to provide a urine test. Other charges were withdrawn by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The particulars related to the first guilty plea were that on October 29, 2025, Ebanks possessed, without lawful excuse, a makeshift “crack” cocaine pipe, being a modified vodka bottle with a hole in it.
The second guilty plea related to urine test was connected to the same date. The particulars were that Ebanks, being a person under arrest for a relevant offence, failed without reasonable excuse to provide a specimen of urine when required to do so by a police officer.
Rather than pass sentence, the Chief Magistrate set out what she described as a significant testing requirement, requiring him to test three times per week.
In addition to this, defence counsel Lauren Miranda requested that a pre-sentence report be done.
The matter was adjourned to September 23, 2026 for sentencing.
