“Not Guilty” Pleas Entered For Importation Of 49 Pounds Of Ganja

Waysome appeared in the Summary Court today, August 13, 2026, to face ganja charges. Not guilty pleas were entered.

The court heard that, between November 8 and November 25, 2025, the men (who are jointly charged) imported 49.55 pounds of Ganja. There was also a charge of being concerned with the Ganja importation.

After hearing the not guilty pleas, the Chief Magistrate queried the immigration status of one of the defendants. The court heard that he was on a work permit and a recent work permit application was turned down.

The Chief Magistrate raised further queries about how the defendant was providing for himself while unemployed and waiting for trial. The defendant noted that he was getting assistance from his mother overseas.

After hearing the above, the Chief Magistrate set a case management hearing for September 10 and bailed the defendants until that date.
