Devon Wright Jr Acquitted of Murdering Toddler Allisady Powell But Convicted of Abduction

Today, August 14, 2026, a Grand Court jury found Devon Emmanuel Wright Jr not guilty of murdering two-year-old Allisady Powell, but guilty of abducting her.
Allisady disappeared from an apartment in Cayman Brac in the early hours of July 26, 2022, and was found dead on the ironshore later that morning.
The Crown, led by Jonas Hankin, KC, had asked the jury to be sure that Wright was the only adult awake and outside the apartment during the window in which the child vanished, and that the other adults present could be excluded. Defence counsel Stan Reiz, KC, argued the case was wholly circumstantial, that no motive had been established in four years of investigation, and that a missing key left another possible means of entry.
Justice Peters adjourned sentencing to a later date and remanded Wright in custody pending sentence.
