In a significant courtroom development, prominent defence attorney Amelia Fosuhene revealed yesterday, October 16, 2026, that she plans to launch a legal challenge to throw out the murder indictment against her client, Drayson Marlon Watson.

Appearing before the Hon. Justice Richards during the Grand Court docket, Fosuhene informed the court of her intention to submit a formal application for dismissal. When asked about the basis for the dismissal, she indicated that the forthcoming defence argument hinges directly on the highly anticipated findings of the final forensic post-mortem report regarding the official cause of death. She offered to serve the details of the basis to the Crown immediately.

In response, Crown Counsel Scott Wainwright, appearing for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, requested a few weeks’ window to properly review the case law before the matter is debated in front of a judge.

Answering the call for time, Justice Richards adjourned the case to November 12 for a full hearing on the legal arguments. Watson’s bail was extended until his next court date.

Background: The Turtle Farm Confrontation

The high-profile case was formally transmitted to the Grand Court following a Summary Court hearing before Magistrate McFarlane. The charges stem from an alleged confrontation at the Turtle Farm tourist attraction, following which an elderly man passed away.

The confrontation reportedly arose from a dispute over turtle meat purchase limits, captured on CCTV before turning physical. Despite fears of retribution, Watson was granted strict bail conditions.
