The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service said that just after 2 pm on August 21, the 9-1-1 Communication Centre dispatched police and emergency services to School Road in George Town in response to a report of a person in distress.
According to the RCIPS, a man was found bleeding and unconscious in the area and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the police responded and transported the injured man to the hospital by ambulance.
The RCIPS said the attending physician treated the man for serious injuries, including lacerations to the head and face. The man remains in the hospital for further treatment.
Police officers at the scene spoke with individuals in the area but could not gather any information about the incident or identify the exact location where it occurred.
It is believed that the man was assaulted, and the police are currently investigating the circumstances of his injuries.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward and provide any information that may assist with the investigation.
