The prosecution has laid bare a highly structured timeline of an alleged, late-night assassination attempt in an opening speech presented in the Grand Court by prosecutor Edmund Vickers KC today, October 7, 2026.
Four men— Dabian Lasando Ebanks, Jamie Samuel Ebanks, Austin Kempton Crawford, Jared Marvin Johnson —face charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and unlawful possession of a firearm. According to Vickers KC, the alleged, attempted murder was a “team effort” by the defendants that nearly cost two men their lives outside a Subway fast-food restaurant last year.
The primary witness for the prosecution is Jimmall Facey, a fifth member of the group who reportedly turned prosecution’s evidence. It is understood that Facey has already pleaded guilty to the possession of a .38 handgun and is expected to shed light on the alleged incident.
The Motive: An Alleged Blood Feud
Vickers KC suggested that the targeted victims—Jiffon Robinson and Denver Bright—were shot at as an act of street justice.
According to Vickers KC, a few months prior to the incident, Jamie Ebanks had been allegedly assaulted and stabbed multiple times outside the Jungle Bar in West Bay. Robinson and Bright had been arrested and bailed for the attack, later being formalised with charges for the alleged incident against Ebanks. Based on statements from Vickers KC in the Grand Court, the defendants allegedly sought revenge, allegedly waiting outside Subway for the perfect opportunity to strike.
The Assembly at Kelly’s Bar
Vickers KC shared that an opportunity arrived late on Friday night, February 21, 2025.
According to the CCTV evidence played in the Grand Court today, the five men initially gathered at Kelly’s Bar on Birch Tree Hill Road. By 11:30 pm, Crawford, Jamie Ebanks, Facey, and Johnson were at the bar. Shortly after midnight, at 12:19 am, Dabian Ebanks arrived in his black Honda Fit.
The alleged “hit” (as Vickers KC called it) was set into motion through a sequence of precise events:
* 1:28 am: Allegedly, Austin Crawford drives his white Honda Accord away from the bar toward Centennial Towers, entering the Subway restaurant at 1:32 am.
* 1:38 am: Allegedly, Crawford exits the Subway, he walks straight past Jiffon Robinson and Denver Bright, who are just arriving at Subway.
* The Alarm: Vickers KC alleged that Crawford recognised Robinson and Bright at Subway and drove his Honda Accord back to Kelly’s Bar in under two minutes to gather the “hit” team.
Vickers KC said that, upon Crawford’s return, the group allegedly scrambled into three vehicles. Jimmall Facey and Jamie Ebanks entered Ebanks’ metallic gold/silver champagne-coloured Honda Odyssey. Jared Johnson entered Dabian Ebanks’ black Honda Fit. Crawford returned to his white Honda Accord. At 1:44 am, all three cars allegedly rolled out toward Centennial Towers.
The Alleged Ambush and 9mm Volley
Vickers KC explained that the execution of the hit was tightly coordinated. Crawford allegedly parked his Honda Accord near the restaurant to act as a lookout, initially positioned behind electrical boxes where he could see the targets’ vehicle. At 1:52 am, Dabian Ebanks allegedly placed a short phone call to Crawford to confirm the layout.
Vickers KC further alleged that, across the street, Jimmall Facey and Jared Johnson—now wearing a face-covering shirt provided by Jamie Ebanks to conceal his identity—hid in the bushes waiting for the targets to emerge. Allegedly, Facey was armed with a .38 revolver, while Johnson held a 9mm handgun.
At 1:57 am, Robinson and Bright walked out of the Subway.
Vickers KC alleged that Facey saw the men but realized the targets were not who Facey was allegedly told they would be; a man named Chris Bush, was not with them. Six shots were fired from a 9mm handgun directly at Robinson and Bright in the Subway parking lot. It was suggested that, while Facey drew his gun, he did not shoot.
Robinson and Bright narrowly escaped death by rushing back from their car into the restaurant for cover. The six bullets tore into the victims’ vehicle and shattered the restaurant facade behind them. Miraculously, neither the targets nor innocent bystanders inside the 24-hour establishment were killed or injured.
The Alleged Getaway and Clean-Up Operation
Vickers KC said that, following the gunfire, Johnson and Facey allegedly fled on foot toward Heritage Kitchen and Boggy Sand Road, where the getaway cars were waiting. Facey leaped into Dabian Ebanks’ black Honda Fit, while Johnson jumped over a fence to escape in Jamie Ebanks’ Honda Odyssey.
Allegedly, both vehicles sped to Jamie Ebanks’ residence on Schooner Lane (off Fountain Road). According to Vickers KC, the group allegedly burned their identifiable clothing, attempted to wash off gunshot residue, and handed the weapons back to Jamie Ebanks. Crawford even provided Facey with a fresh pair of shorts, still wrapped in its plastic packaging, to replace his distinctive red and white beach shorts.
Police Interception
Vickers KC explained that the getaway unravelled swiftly. At 2:20 am, police CCTV spotted Dabian Ebanks’ black Honda Fit leaving Fountain Road and turning into Finch Drive. At 2:23 am, just 26 minutes after the shooting, police converged on the vehicle outside Facey’s home address. Both Dabian Ebanks and Jimmall Facey were arrested on the spot.
The Indictment and Total Denials by the Defendants
The prosecution detailed that the formal indictment contains four distinct counts: Counts 1 and 2 allege the attempted murder of Jiffon Robinson and Denver Bright, while Counts 3 and 4 reflect the illegal possession of the two handguns with intent to endanger life.
While Facey is said to be actively cooperating with the prosecution, the remaining defendants have maintained a strict wall of denial, with the police left to dismantle the following allegations:
* Jared Johnson: Allegedly identified by Facey as the shooter known as “Bubbles,” Johnson completely disputes that he was the man in black who fired the 9mm handgun. He was arrested on January 8, 2026, offering “No Comment” to all questions regarding his whereabouts.
* Austin Crawford: Arrested on March 28, 2025, Crawford claimed he had only driven to the area because he saw “the boys” buying food. He provided a brief written statement asserting: “I did not enter into any agreement to kill anyone, as alleged or at all,” before answering “No Comment” to subsequent questions.
* Jamie Ebanks: Allegedly identified by police CCTV and Facey as a primary organizer who supplied the weapons and collected them afterward, Ebanks completely denies being present at the scene. He claimed to the police that he is “not sure where he was” on the night of the shooting, but insisted he was not at the location of the attempted murder.
* Dabian Ebanks: Accused of waiting at the scene to drive the shooters away, Ebanks also denies being present at Centennial Towers. He stated to investigators that he believes he was “in his car somewhere,” but firmly denies being at the scene of the crime.
The Prosecution’s Conclusion: A Team Effort
In closing the opening speech, Vickers KC emphasized that under the law of joint enterprise, every individual in the dock shares equal guilt.
Vickers KC stated that the firing of a lethal weapon at close range into individuals entering a car is an undeniable, unambiguous attempt to kill. Vickers KC asserted that this was an coordinated team effort where each defendant actively played their part—whether by planning the hit, handing over the firearms, keeping watch, pulling the trigger, driving the shooters, or burning evidence. Vickers KC rejected any notion that the defendants were outside the Subway restaurant innocently or by accident.
To ensure the jury can confidently look past the grainy quality of standard night-time CCTV, the prosecution announced that court proceedings on Thursday will feature an organized site visit to the scene of the shooting. The trip will allow the court to physically assess the locations, angles, and precise distances involved, showing exactly how close the victims came to losing their lives when those six shots were fired.
