The legal counsel for Kevin Curtis Bowen has challenged the specific criminal section under which he was charged, forcing a delay to amend court filings.
Bowen appeared in Summary Court today, October 6, 2026, facing severe allegations of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and making threats to kill. Defence attorney Katie Williams argued that her client had been charged under the wrong section of the penal code.
Acknowledging the error, Acting Chief Magistrate McFarlane noted that the prosecution would either need to transmit the file to the Grand Court or take an adjournment to lay the correct charge. Crown Counsel from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions conceded and the case was adjourned to October 20, 2026, to allow the DPP to rectify the paperwork.
