Venassa Alisa Carnegie-Christie, appeared in the Summary Court today, Tuesday, June 9, 2026, to face six serious charges of deception and forgery. Magistrate McFarlane noted that the matter was not one to be dealt with in the Summary Court and would be transferred to the Grand Court to be heard on July 10, 2026.
According to court documents, Carnegie-Christie is accused of operating a fraudulent car import, leasing, and sales business under the name “Simplicity Leasing,” allegedly using false representations to obtain money from multiple victims.
For the first charge of obtaining property by deception, it was alleged that, on August 12, 2024, at the Genesis Building in George Town, Carnegie-Christie allegedly dishonestly obtained $2,175 from Wendy James (née Torres Bordes) by falsely claiming she operated a licensed car import and leasing business and had a vehicle available for lease-to-own.
For the second charge of obtaining property by deception, it was alleged that, on May 1, 2025, at the Peter A. Tomkins Building in George Town, she is accused of dishonestly obtaining $5,500 from Romeo Thomas using the same false representation regarding a licensed car business and lease-to-own vehicle.
For the first charge of obtaining a money transfer by deception, it was alleged that, between July 23, 25, and 31, 2024, she allegedly obtained a total of $1,375 ($1,000 + $125 + $250) from Aleayah Tatum through the same deception.
For the second charge of obtaining a money transfer by deception, it was alleged that, on June 21, 2024 and August 4, 2024, she is accused of obtaining $2,225 ($725 + $1,500) from Audry Ebanks and Randy Ebanks by pretending to operate a legitimate car leasing business.
For the third charge of obtaining a money transfer by deception, it was alleged that, on August 8, 2024, she allegedly obtained $500 from Rachel Rivers using the same false pretence.
For the charge of forgery of an official Government document, it was alleged that, between May 13, 2024, and May 15, 2025, Carnegie-Christie is accused of forging a Trade & Business Licence in the name of Qwamie Christie T/A Simplicity Leasing, purporting it to be a genuine government document.
