A criminal prosecution involving an alleged profane public outburst against a woman on Watlers Road has been thrown into procedural jeopardy after Crown Counsel from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions revealed that both the man and the woman exchanged harsh words towards each other.

Courtney Eric Bryan appeared in the Summary Court today, October 27, 2026, accompanied by defence counsel Greg Walcolmg. Bryan stood in the dock to answer a single charge of insulting the modesty of a woman, a criminal offence under the Cayman Islands Penal Code.

The serious charge stems from a highly charged dispute on April 1, 2026. According to the summary of facts presented to the court, Bryan is alleged to have publicly targeted a female on Watlers Road, calling her a “wh*re,” a “sl*t” and screaming, “Your vag*na h*le is big.” Standing before Magistrate McFarlane, Bryan clearly entered a formal plea of Not Guilty.

However, what initially appeared bound for a standard summary trial hit an immediate roadblock when DPP Crown Counsel took the floor. DPP Crown Counsel confirmed that both parties said displeasing words to each other. Therefore, the DPP would not proceed with the matter.

Given the sudden collapse of the prosecution’s case, the DPP Crown Counsel suggested that the most appropriate resolution might be to bind Bryan over to keep the peace. Following this, Bryan was released.
