Allegations of harassment, causing alarm or distress and misuse of an information and communications technology (ICT) network against Stephen Agustus Frater were dismissed in the Summary Court today, August 3, 2026, after the Crown Counsel from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions offered no evidence.
Appearing before Magistrate Murray and represented by attorney Clyde Allen — who appeared by video link — Frater’s matter came before the court for review. DPP Crown Counsel told the court that, having reviewed the file, “in light of the complainant’s reluctance to engage in the prosecution of this matter,” DPP Crown Counsel was offering no evidence on the charges.
Magistrate Murray confirmed with DPP Crown Counsel that no plea had been entered — the charges being withdrawn on the basis that Frater had not been put to his plea — and dismissed them. “So, sir, these charges are then dismissed; have a good day,” Magistrate Murray told him.
Defence Counsel said he was content given the position DPP Crown Counsel had now taken.
