A man charged with two counts of indecent assault and one count of abuse of a position of trust has been committed to stand trial in the Grand Court, the Chief Magistrate decided today, July 15, 2026.

Committing the matter, the Chief Magistrate listed it for the Grand Court on August 7, 2026 and imposed media reporting restrictions (nothing may be published by any person that may directly or indirectly identify the young person). The defendant’s bail was extended until that date.

Because the Chief Magistrate ordered reporting restrictions, no further detail of the allegations is published here.

Note to readers

“Committed to the Grand Court” means the Summary Court has sent the case  up to be tried in the higher court; it is a procedural step, not a finding of guilt.

Reporting restrictions limit what the media may lawfully publish about a case; they are imposed by the court, often to protect a victim’s anonymity or the fairness of a future trial.
