Two men, Patrick Anthony Campbell and Emmanuel Carter Wright, appeared in the Grand Court today, May 29, 2026, to enter pleas on a series of charges, including theft from the beach area near the Kimpton Hotel, robbery, and assault. The incidents are alleged to have occurred on December 3, 2025.

Regarding the theft, it was alleged that, in December 2025, the men stole a black and white cloth bag containing one wallet with $200, a British Columbia driver’s license, a Scotiabank credit card, an iPhone 15, and a multi-coloured fanny pack, property belonging to Sonia Kowalowski at the beach area north of the Kimpton Hotel. Campbell pleaded guilty and Carter-Wright pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Concerning the handling of criminal property (contrary to the Proceeds of Crime Act), it was alleged that the men used stolen debit card to make purchases for $181, knowing or suspecting it was stolen.  The men pleaded not guilty to the charge.

For the third charge of robbery, it was alleged that the men stole stealing a gold chain and pendant from Ramon Morena at Bonny Moon, using force. The men pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Regarding the charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, both are accused of unlawfully assaulting Sonia Albanese at Bonny Moon in December 2025, causing her actual bodily harm. The men pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Turning to allegations of handling stolen goods, Campbell is charged with dishonestly receiving a gold chain, while Carter-Wright is charged with dishonestly receiving a multi-coloured fanny pack. The men pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The trial for the men has been scheduled for August 2026.
