A man has denied two burglaries and assaults on two police officers and will stand trial in October.
Andy James Myles appeared before the Chief Magistrate today, August 18. 2026, where it was alleged that on March 22, 2026, he entered an apartment on Martin Drive as a trespasser and stole CI$45.
On the second matter, it was alleged that on May 3, 2026, Myles entered a building on Rockhole Road as a trespasser and stole cash in mixed currency — United States, Cayman Islands dollars, British pounds, Jamaican dollars and Barbadian dollars — together with a voter registration card and a mechanic school identification card.
Myles was also charged with intentional harassment, alarm or distress, contrary to Section 88A of the Penal Code, in relation to a woman. It was alleged that between May 3 and May 7, 2026, Myles used threatening words and behaviour towards a woman, with intent to cause her harassment, alarm or distress. Myles told the court he did not know the woman.
Turning to charges of assaulting police officers contrary to Section 123 of the Police Act, it was alleged that, on July 18, 2026, Myles assaulted Police Constable Marshall and Adrian Lewis acting in the execution of their duties. Myles gave the court his own account, saying he had been found sleeping and handcuffed and had woken to what he believed was someone trying to harm him.
Myles pled not guilty to all charges. A case-management hearing was fixed for September 17 and the trial for October 20.
