A man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl, at the conclusion of a week-long Grand Court trial.
A jury, sitting before Acting Justice Palmer, returned its verdicts today, August 7, 2026, as follows:
** Count 1 – NOT GUILTY (the alternative to Count 2)
** Count 2 – GUILTY
** Count 3 – GUILTY (an alternative to Count 4)
** Count 4 – NOT GUILTY
** Count 5 – GUILTY
Reportedly, Defence Counsel Keith Myers asked the judge for the man’s bail to continue, suggesting regular checking in with the police station. The prosecution rejected the application and the man was remanded into custody. Sentencing is set for September 25, 2026, to allow for victim impact and pre-sentencing reports.
